Update on Ed’s Big Challenge

Action Man Ed Lee has now completed the first month of his Big Challenge – to walk/run 2,600kms in 2016. Below is an update from him in his own words on how he’s clocking up the ‘K’s! Keep it up Ed – we are delighted to have you fundraising for Petal and Pendleside

“I have enjoyed a great start to the 2016 Challenge.
Having set out to make sure I was ahead of the target by the end of the first month, I have done just that.
I have been helped by a Bank Holiday, a day’s leave and not too much unexpected weather.
And by the end of January a huge chunk had been chalked off the 2,600 kilometre target.
Helped along by old friend David Greenwood and new friend Graham Denney, who have both joined in to lend me some moral support, I actually managed to drag myself out 29 times for either walks or runs.
In almost 40 hours I either ran or walked a total of 255.1 kilometres, split fairly evenly in just over 132 kilometres of running and just under 123 kilometres of walking.
The longest run was exactly 10 kilometres on a treadmill at Pendle Wavelengths.
And the longest walk was just over 15 kilometres starting in Briercliffe, walking out to Roggerham, round to Hurstwood Reservoir, down to Rowley Lake and then back to Briercliffe which was all made much easier by listening to the Clarets beat Middlesbrough in the FA Cup!
Apart from knocking a lump out of the overall target, I haven’t yet ticked off any of the other parts of the challenge yet.
They are running a half marathon, completing the Burnley 10K, taking part in the Pendle Pub Walk, walking the Yorkshire Three Peaks and the Pendle Three Peaks, organising the mass participation event which is detailed above, taking part in Petal’s Relay for Life and completing both the Pendle Way and the Burnley Way.”
